6 Mile Run Conditions

Did some recon - only had time for the canal side. Overall conditions are ok. Some puddles here and there and two mucky section that are no more than 5-10 feet long. I give it a C+.

There are two major downed trees, one just by the bridge at Blackwell Mills (gift wrapped in poison ivy vines) and one major downed oak on forbidden red.

These downed trees may need a group effort. My chainsaw bar is not long enough to get the one at Blackwell.

Yes, just the folding saw, the branches weren't too big.

Conditions were not good yesterday evening, IMHO not worth riding. The concrete bridge was flooded.

Rode from canal lot to anal bridge Bailed to blackwells mill road at the bridge. Wasn’t bad but more puddles and peanut butter mud the further away from canal. Rain tomorrow won’t help. Going to need more time.

That anal bridge is usually spraying mud typically

A little update with some pics…

Low hanging tree on white.

Another one you can hop over.

And this beast on blue. Just too much for my gomboy. (Some have already started a path through the thick brush around it. Crazy bastids…)

Otherwise a few muddles and lots of overgrowth on blue and red. I did not cross over to the 27 side.

I fried my hedge trimmer so I gotta get a new one. May get a bigger chainsaw while I’m at it to finally get this tree. More power.

Done.
Once the PI was off, it was more manageable

Now the other two ash trees...

Got the stuff on white. Left the low one on F. Red untill it drops farther. Too risky working that high

@Patrick thanks! Nicely done. Those ash are gonna come down at some point. One of the storms will hit them.

I worry about forbidden red. The river is really starting to cut into the hill/cliff in spots.

Rode the full loop this morning, trails are in good shape.
The concrete bridge not so much. The tubes on the south end are blocked with logs & silt has now built up on the upstream side where the flow stagnates. The only flow is on the north end, which is undermining the concrete ramp; the top slab of the ramp now rocks when you stand on it.

Rode the whole loop this afternoon. I thought of @Patrick with much thanks when I didn't have to climb over that poison ivy covered monster on Blue. 🙏

There was a tree across the trail on the "2021 NICA Addition"

I agree the ramp on the concrete bridge is getting undermined and washed away (far end in photo below). Is it just me or has the whole slab of the main bridge shifted?
