Is that typically a thing? Was it over tensioned? When the garage door spring breaks. Big disappointment less than 4 years old. 👎

Did I read it wrong or your garage door went for a short, late vacation to Florida? It is indeed a bit young to do that on its own though...When the garage door spring breaks. Big disappointment less than 4 years old. 👎

Exactly what I thought, over tensioned. But the man said it's a usage cycle limit. Too many bike rides last year! That door gets the majority of the use. No one uses the front door with the house being a ranch style, from the driveway that's the most direct way to the inner sanctuary. Is that typically a thing? Was it over tensioned?

New house rules will be sending all inhabitants to the back door to the patio.Time to put a door on the side of the garage?
I'm kind of running into a similar issue with keeping the regular bikes in the garage and now I have concerns over killing my garage door!
I didn't think it was "cycles" thing either, until I thought about it. It could easily have been, I estimated the door went through about 25 "cycles" a day on average. That being said I'm not sold it was the cycles,I'm more on the belief it was just a poorly manufactured spring.set it up with dual springs.
personally, i don't think it was a "cycles" thing in 4 years. i'm 20 years into mine...
25 times a day average? Were you giving away free ice cream (or beer) from your garage? 😁New house rules will be sending all inhabitants to the back door to the patio.

Anyone remember the other springs....before they put the safety wire through them? Twang.....bang. go in the garage and find part of a spring buried in the drywall lol. Memory as a kid. When the garage door spring breaks. Big disappointment less than 4 years old. 👎
