Nothing like a last minute cluster fuck to keep it interesting. On my ride home my front hub was more notched than what a Dyno should be. Took it into the shop to clean it out and it’s totally trashed. Bearings are shot, axle is grooved, inner mech barely spins.
Was prepared to swap my Alpinist front wheel on and swap to a USB Brick and my 500l Light and Motion Rando light that was my old go to. Would suck trying to go fast without the sick K Lite setup but it would get the ride done. Called Cycle Monkey on the very off chance they had a 24h 12x100 hub in stock and they did!! After paying them a billion dollars to overnight it, I’m hopeful I can get my wheel rebuilt before I leave the shop for the Airport. I’ll bring my backup plan with me and basically throw it in the bag if needed and reset the bike in France…
You can’t see how chewed up the axle is in this photo because I sanded the hell out of it to try to salvage this wheel.

Legs are absolute shit. Sitting in Mortagne Au Perche seeing my if it’s even possible to make the next time cut-off at my current pace. With a 10/10 stress level and zero recovery coming into this thing, probably makes sense to trash the whole thing and score infinite brownie points by going sightseeing with my wife for the rest of the week.

And to clarify @Steve Vai, that vending machine crap you posted before doesn’t count.
That maurten has a ton of caffeine in it. I usually start the day with that or mix it in here or there. Drinking them all day is trouble.

I’ve done the whole season using it. Usually it ends up being 1 every 3 hours with water in between or the black packs. Yesterday I drank 4 bottles with only 1 being Maurten.

All the fast food places have the dopest veggie options in town. McDonald’s is the only spot to get an egg and cheese sandwich.
After another day at the Louvre, we hit a Crepe spot which was awesome.
