Stephens State Park Conditions

Thank you! Rode top trails and efforts were noticed!
Everyone please keep the intel coming in:
1. Strava or Trailforks location screen shot
2. Picture of the tree with a size reference (bike, person, hand, etc).

The accurate location is most important. If you're active on here and you take care of a tree, please report that as well so we don't chase a target that no longer exists.

Came across this one on Trestle today: **CLEARED**

The beaver is super active over on Land of the Lost. 6-8 trees down, only one down on trail, easy to go over.

Stephen's was awesome Sunday. Tree mentioned on Trestle was gone. Beaver still very active on LOL and 1 beaver-felled tree is blocking the trail but there's an easy go-around. There's one on Border trail roughly here. Didn't get a pic but it's a couple 4"-6" diameter trunks. Could probably do it with a hand saw and some patience.

Hey all. Thought I’d drop in with an update. After 4 months of intensive involvement from the medical community, my vestibular issues seem to be less severe, but not completely resolved. My balance still a bit wonky but I’m getting on with life. Happy to say that I successfully did a 17mile rail trail ride the other day, with no issues! Next step will be to try some mountain biking again. It’s too early to say when I’ll be comfortable enough to cart a 40lbs chainsaw pack around on an E-bike, but it’s something I obviously want to work towards.

My return to TM will be aided greatly by retirement! Dec 20 is my big day. So come 2025 I’ll have endless daytime availability to get back in the game. Hiking TM missions among the possibilities if I still can’t ride.

Thanks to Hungusoutdoors and Teutonic (and anybody else who lent a hand) for keeping the park maintained in my absence.

Congrats on the retirement, and glad to hear you're on the mend. Thanks for all of the hard work!

After almost 5 months away from Mt biking, my re-entry was supposed to be a few low-key non-TM rides to ease back into things. Instead, I strapped on the chainsaw pack and "threw myself to the dogs" today. Was a crisp 30 degrees and gorgeous out. With Teutonic’s help, we cleared 6 obstructions in 2.5 hours on Lower Maze, Hally To, and Golden trail before heading back to the cars at the RR Crossing. This was a struggle and a half for me due to the ongoing vertigo issues, much diminished cardio abilities (I gained a few pounds), and simply not having ridden in so long. I had to take numerous breaks, and I had to walk my bike over some rock gardens and other complicated spots. This included a stupid fall when my heavily leaning scabbard caught a tree and gently swept me right off the bike. Doh! That aside, it was good to knock the cobwebs off and get back in the game. Thanks again to Teutonic for his most excellent Intel and assistance.

thanks for this!

I had vertigo two different times a few years back, one of which landed me in the ER overnight. But luckily with meds and other treatments I was able to shake it within a few weeks each time and now its been probably 4 years without an episode. Can't imagine 5+ months of that even mild version is horrible.!

stay well/safe.
