Things that make you frown :(

Yeah... that sucks. Glad everyone is ok.

Unfortunately, after a quick bit of internet digging on Pilot values, my WAG is the repair costs would be more than the value of the car. From what I see on Autotrader, it looks like it would cost more than $10K to find a similar example - and most of the ones I see for sale have more miles on them than yours.

Yeah... the difference between Thursday and Monday is wild...

Disturbance in the jet stream due to glacial melting changing the salt content in the oceans. Instead of systems moving west to east at a normal flow, the jet stream stalls and wobbles. After seeming to be headed out to sea, Hurricane Sandy wobbled backwards. Or so I've heard.......

Bummer. I was planning to go with my family today. 😟

I wonder if they made the right call on this. The forecast had been predicting rain all week. But, being a self-admitted weather nerd, I know rain models can be highly volatile, especially this time of year, and not truly trustworthy until the day of.

The forecast as of this morning is not looking dire at all. 50s and cloudy with only light precipitation in the later afternoon. 🤷‍♀️

Just about every weekend now, when I ride, I come across Bluetooth Speaker Guy. What’s up with that? Have these guys (it’s always a guy) not heard of headphones? I truly don’t get it. One reason I ride is to get outdoors and enjoy the surroundings, not hear some rando’s tinny music.

Can one of you Bluetooth Speaker Guys explain it to me?

I seem to ride past at least one every time we ride at Allaire.
Allaire by far is the worst for this and some play the music so loud they can't hear anyone behind them. Though I'm not sure if it's more annoying in the woods or standing on a lift line when skiing and someone has one cranking in their backpack.

All those kids in the ski lines have them hanging off their backpacks, so they are exposed. I take that opportunity to turn them off whenever I'm in line near these monsters and within reach of their speakers.

As the devil's advocate, if you're going to be listening to music while riding it's safer to have music playing through a speaker, despite the annoyance to other trail users. People can hear you coming (which, despite being annoying, is safe) and you can also still hear others approaching (also safe).

Admittedly I'm a headphone guy but it never really feels safe when I do it. Speakers in the woods don't bother me, I actually get it.

I don't really "get it" but I have constant music playing in my head, so listening to music while riding doesn't work for me. Even when road riding. Shokz bone-conducting headphones seem to work for a lot of folks.

That said, passing someone with a speaker playing doesn't bother me. I only hear them for a few seconds. If we are going in the same direction, I'll change course. There are far more important things in the world to get butt-hurt over.
