The (unofficial) Tour de Fat

Can someone tell me why I stopped riding regularly.

Geez what a great day to be out, as predicted I was the slowest of our small group. @jmanic has been pushing to ride together so credit goes out to my man. @pedals came also, she toughed out till the end. She has been dealing with a tennis elbow like situation and Rigid SS may not have been the right choice or rouge trail that woke up that problem. My man @Juggernaut showed also but he made a bad decision to try and ride so soon after bronchitis. Rest Dan and join us in the upcoming feable ride series.

As we were at one of the 30 rest stops again because of sucking so bad big man @ReggieHammond showed with a large posse. As always Burke is the areas local tour guide. Nice bike Reg. Of course we ran into those folks again.

All in all it felt good to grind the pedals and having the proper SS gear ratio on my fat bike.

It was great to see you and @pedals out there again.....just like old times. That posse was definitely large....upwards of 20 guys. Was asked to show them around. Still fun though. I love showing others some of the great trials we have in our backyard.

@jmanic....the offer is out there to join me for some multiple loops here in preparation for SSaP.

rumor has it that the trail into DP from 7/11 is a muddy mess.

Did you hear that from your fancy running club?

All kidding aside, the first 200 yards were a bit messy last week. Once you pass the Rutherford trail.....things dry up pretty quickly.

Our fancy running club runs in Mooch North, thank you very much..

Well I was solo as boy wonder has more excuses then Hillary Clinton.

Haven't shown much love to the misfit since getting Fat. It feels so strange jumping on the wafwheels but definitely faster. I threw a suspension fork on her the other day. IIRC the last time I rode a bike besides DH with sussy had to the last bearscat I did not finish. I did finish it the year after rigid and SS. That last year I didn't finish I swore off suspension maybe 4 years ago. Why do I bring this up is I have been dealing with hand numbness like no other for years, sometimes so bad that most of the rides I do one handed while shaking off the numbness. Well today not once did I suffer, duh!

No one showed so that means everyone is in much better shape then me which doesn't take a rocket scientist @fidodie to figure out. Just gonna keep plugging along with a goal to finish SSaP this year.

Thursday 9am at Nassau right Pat?

Matty, after you buy that cannondale from J, he'll give you a good fitting. Guaranteed to make the numbness go away. 🙂

If I am buying a bike from @jdog it will be a real bike that won't disintegrate in front of me.

Well well it smells pretty stagnant in this room.

Lame is a better term for the past few years. Seems every time I would try to get something started it turned into a mirage. If you have been following on Instagram or Strava you have noticed something strange that has to do with me and bikes. Like me actually riding bikes.

I did not start this with an intent of @jdog July 31/31 contest but purely because wife and I never ride together much lately. So we rode the first 2 days of July and I rode the 3rd day. When I was out on the third day I said to myself let's see how long I can last. Well I am here with 9 in a row and just gonna roll with it. Plan a schedule to fit it in and see where it goes.

I can say from having only 55 miles to date before this month and not ridden since 4/15 I am cautiously optimistic. I don't like what I became at 260lbs and never riding from 210lbs and 7000 miles just 4 years ago. My goal is to at least get somewhere between those numbers with a set riding schedule. As of now drinking and eating less is a start. Setting the alarm earlier for those awesome early am rides I always enjoyed the most.

So I am in to win not for $100 but for a healthier me. Wish me luck!

Getting up earlier to ride always motivates me to drink less at night.

Doing more challenging rides always motivates me to eat better.

Things tend to come together when you ride more. Even if you miss a day in July, don't let slow you down.

Good luck Matty! I find that Once you stop the downward spiral is much easier to get into a virtuous circle. Little accomplishments give you motivation to keep moving and make the necessary changes/ sacrifices to to where you want to be.
