Car-spotting thread

If you don't drive like an asshole and wind it out everytime you drive it'll be fine.
I can get close to 40 MPG on my daily commute of 60 miles if I really try. Usually it's 35 to 36 mpg without trying.
And the seats go way back, so tall people, like Ze Germans.... can actually be comfortable.

2.0 turbos are universal at this point. Everything from sports cars, to sedans, to Full Size pickups are starting to come with them.

Any issues with your sunroof, @jShort?

Love those CB750"s!! Wish I still had my '76, it was way more fun than the '83 Interceptor that replaced it.

Strongly considering. Like I mentioned, it’s the perfect amount of power without getting in to much trouble, and I love hatchbacks for the keeping it small and sporty, but spacious. The only downside is I’ve driven an average of almost 20k a year. Will a turbo VW be up to the task of high mileage daily that I’d want to buy and maintain.

Definitely trying to get in before electrical BS.

The answer is yes, you can pound the 2.0 long-term. Cast-iron engine block, timing chain instead of a belt, and direct injection with port injection to prevent carbon buildup.

My doc likes to talk cars. He just got an RS5

I've had 3, none ever leaked, including current GTI, its 2018, VW doesn't make cars that leak, your confusing VW this with Tesla, that does have leaky sunroofs.

Bullshit. A good portion of the new Mk7 roofs leak. It's 2018 so VW doesn't make their own sunroofs, they are outsourced. There is a TSB about frames cracking and how to replace headliners after leaks. Also they've now added cleaning the drain lines to the preventative maintenance schedule. Something is up with the new pano-style roofs. Consumer Reports shows statistical issues with them as well (but otherwise it's a reliable car).

If VW makes a 2019 GTI Sport with the cloth seats, LED headlights, LSD, R brakes, and no sunroof, I might actually get one.

Pretty sure they’ll find

Pretty sure they’re not gonna let a leaky sunroof exist for the life of the model.

The best GTI to get is one with the least options. The optioned ones are no faster than the unoptioned ones. The LSD is nice coming out of slow corners, but it’s not a game changer unless your driving 10/10ths all the time. I drove back through rural Pennsy and NY state after trout fishing the upper Delaware last night, and the car absolutely rails on those roads.
