OOS MOGA

Ok guys... we got Sourlands under our belts but there are more parks to ride. Next week is Mahlon Dickerson. I thought @arangov3 rides this place? Max... can you lead? If not, will go ISO for a guide.

Unfortunately, I can only ride on Sunday so if the ride happens on Sat, it's cool and I will see you guys the week after.
Browsed thru the conditions thread for Mahlon. Looks like this place doesn't drain well.
Any suggestions on alternative places to ride this weekend? It might end up being another NNJ park due to all the rain we've been getting.

Kittatiny Valley seems to be able to handle a lot of rain. High Mt handles rain well. We'll have to see how it plays out.

I just us a cheapo fluid trainer at the moment and can only bear a single 25 min sitcom rerun. Its beyond boring and I'm willing to invest in something more interactive. Seems like Zwift is the go to option at the moment. Save me some time and let me know the lowest cost option to get in. I assume Zwift has a number of price options?

few things. Fluid trainers, while better than magnetic trainers, have bad road feel, and every pedal stroke feels belabored. For the least expensive route, I'd buy the cheapest set of rollers (preferably aluminum) you can find, and slap a resistance unit on it. That was my set up for many years, and i always could duplicate my outdoor powers (the main area where bad road feel would manifest itself). Then you'll need a power meter, as Zwift needs to know your output in order to calculate speed. So for the least expensive set-up, i'd recommend

Aluminum rollers: $150 (make sure to get the one with smaller roller diameter)
Resistance unit: $50
Power meter (I trust SRM and Powertap hub): $200
Wireless signal hub (aka ANT+ dongle): $25
Fans: $90
Dehumidifier: presumably you already have one in the basement.

So we are talking $400 of fixed cost for the cycling related equipment. Entry point for a used smart trainer would cost a few hundred more (the fluid trainer style are less expensive, direct drive cost a bit more). $600 for an used direct drive. Some of them (in particular Wahoo Kickr) had issues. Cycleops Hammer is $1k when you get it on sale (MSRP of $1200).

If you want to give the rollers + resistance unit a try, I can lend you my set up. The rollers have been relegated to race day warmup duty (which means it's collecting dust right now, as I won't be racing in the foreseeable future). I even have a fork mount for the rollers.

Rd valley(so I hear), high mtn, ringwood
Frank and I know that HM drains well. As long as it doesn't rain all that much on Friday, HM should be good to go on Sunday. But we've done HM 3 times already. Personally, I love HM so I can ride there every weekend but thinking the group would want some other variety. We originally had KVSP next week. Perhaps we can switch to this weekend if weather permits? What do you guys think? and what day are you guys looking to ride? Sat or Sun? Thinking Sunday would be the better option because of the rain we've had and more importantly.... I can't ride on Sat 😛

I am open to riding anywhere although my legs still aren’t recovered from this weekends riding so an easy place is cool. I think Sat or Sun are both tough for me gotta find a babysitter

@Mtbdog
@BPaze
Let's do KVSP
Do we need a guide or... Frank are you good to lead?
I think @DownhillR3 offered to give us a tour a while ago... not sure if he is available this Sun?

Where is @Kangdoy and @jklett ?
@Mr. E Man are you still on DL?
I'll always be on the DL. currently on vaca sippin mojitos for week and half because a damn wave knocked me off my boogie board and slammed my bad shoulder into the ocean floor first. Go figure... Who needs surgery when you have booze ... I should be back this weekend. I'll be following for updates.
