    2026 H2H Race Schedule

This thread just reminded me that I haven’t done a race since the final Cathedral Pines event in 2019 (really a “participation” effort, rather than actual “racing”) and I’ve been (and still am) paying for my annual USAC license through auto-renewal. 🙄

James Pearl Thinks Blogging is Dead

What I Learned in (Semi) Retirement I began collecting my pension January 2024, with the explicit understanding that I would pick up a part-time job to pad out that income until I hit 62 and can start collecting Social Security. As it turned out, I didn't work at all until August 2024, when I...

    The Indoor Cyclist's support thread

So, this began happening today. Thought I might as well join the conversation. I haven’t been on a trainer since 2018, when I did a winter of Trainer Road, prior to the last season I actually raced bikes. Right now, I’m doing Rouvy, which has been Mrs. G’s choice for several years (that’s her...

    Going Long and Hard.

I don’t see “TOILET” listed here, which seems pretty important, given the frequent Taco Bell stops…

XC Skiing Thompson Park Groomed Trails

Got out to Thompson Park today for 5.5 miles of groomed track. Conditions were very good. Hoping to go again in the next few days, but the forecast temperatures Friday and Saturday are giving me some pause… Next week is looking a little more civil.

What worked for you in 2025?

I did two notable things in 2025 that "worked" for me. One was a diet/lifestyle change, the other was bike setup. I've never been all that much of a drinker, rarely having alcohol during the work week, but I certainly have enjoyed some whisky before dinner on the weekends, and a beer with that...

    Allaire Conditions

It’s +/-1”, based on what we have at my house. Likely a nice, frozen layer that will be fine for non-fat bikes.

Rather than Order of Operations, it's been Priority of Operations for me, which aligns with the spirit of your question. At this point in my Journeys Around the Sun, I've come to the realization that maintaining whole-body strength/mobility/flexibility should probably get equal/near-equal...

    what do you read?

For those of you who are Stephen King-curious, I highly recommend Night Shift, King’s first published collection of short stories. I’m pretty sure I’ve already mentioned this book around these parts, however many years ago.

    Hartshorne/Huber Conditions

Rode everything in both parks this morning. Conditions in Hartshorne are prime right now. I enjoyed the recent work done on the Water Tower flow trail. Substantial tree across the trail on the western-most section of Many Log Run in Huber, just past the parking lot on Bowne Rd. The tree is at...
