As a sucker for every bike trend except fat bikes (I did 29+), the long/low/slack thing went too far. Optimized for 5-10% of a typical ride and/or lift served. I have the now "old" Epic Evo 8 and it's the most versatile bike I've owned. More capable on many tamer DHs than my enduro-ish bike...
Hmm, that's a great question to ponder. No idea of the answer either. It used to be enduro but from what I've read that's really declining as well. Another one of those things that started out as grass roots fun and ended up getting super serious from both a competitive and difficulty of course...
Isn't it just the natural ebb and flow of these things? Racing doesn't seem popular at the moment. Ringwood itself is one of the better parks in the region and that race was always good. Personally, I'm getting older and my interest in racing is 95% dead. The PITA factor (basically a whole day...
That would be awesome. As someone that rides it a few times a year for many years, certain spots can still be confusing with the alt (read easy) lines that have popped up.
From what I remember, chainsaw size but not huge chainsaw size. On the ground/a bit elevated. I don't recall anything dangerous to cut, though nor did I look very closely.
Conditions - mixed bag. The general conditions were dry and very good. But there were definitely several deep "water hazards" in certain areas. Mostly riding green and white so lots of the park I didn't see. A few trees down but they didn't detract from the ride. Not like it was one after the...
Adding to what you've heard already...This question could apply to any trail at Mooch. Take a look at all of the videos posted over the last 10 years on mainstream social media. None of them look like the trails at Mooch. None of them look like most trails in NJ but Mooch is far away from what...
It has felt like MTB is dying, at least in NJ. Tons of NICA kids but I'm not sure what that really does. They seem to exit the sport right after school just like football/baseball/soccer/basketball kids.
Can't believe this is still a thing. Hope that doesn't sound obnoxious. Just haven't had this issue in the 2020's. For a cheap method, I agree with the air can. They make larger non-bike specific cans but that one several posts ago looked nice and was a reasonable size. I had a 5 gallon (?) can...
The rock rampers and go-rounders are industrious beasts. They appear at all times of day and night to make things easier. Somehow they're never around when a downed tree needs to be cut or something similar.
You said new. As in brand new first ride or two? Your experience is to be expected. Otherwise sounds like a more troubling issue like contamination. DM should not require 200mm rotors.
Orange Seal. But I have to admit that I forget to check it and I'm probably on dried up sealant about half the time I ride. As others have said, tires just seem better now. I get far less flats than I did just a few years ago and those generally require a tire plug anyway.
