My last CX race was Phillipsburg the day before Sandy. Low on gas but could make it back and forth, low on cash and spent all I had on entry. Art White gifted me a couple tires, with one totally shredding during lap 2. Not only DNF, but went home gasless and cashless assuming I could refill...

Quick couple more. 2012 Wayway. People laughing because I still had a 26er. Then Staten Island CX 2011. A varying cast used to do little CX practices at Tatum every week. Three of us came in 1-2-3. Doug Spitz (RIP), @ChrisG and me! Very cool.

1st race, Highland CX 2005 on a borrowed C-dale mtn bike. Happy mid field at 28. 2 years of injuries keeping me out until 1st mtn race Lew Mo 2008. Pics are from 2nd race at Jungle. 3rd in beginner. Bit by the bug for the next 4 years. H2H/MASS/CX.

2015 Tatum was my last race. Got hit by a car in 2014 and never got my mojo back. Went from winning 2011 to back of the field in 15. Tatum was always fun, hangin with the local celebrities!

Oh, and that blip that once was cyclocross! If I say "Cross is boss!" nowadays people think I'm some kind of Jesus freak. Or yell saying "It's GRAVEL!"

1st race was 2008 as beginner and ended 2012 Cat 1. Large races and at least 8 per season I think. Between H2H and MASS you could do a dozen. Maybe that was the "heyday", I dunno. Disturbance in the jet stream due to glacial melting changing the salt content in the oceans. Instead of systems moving west to east at a normal flow, the jet stream stalls and wobbles. After seeming to be headed out to sea, Hurricane Sandy wobbled backwards. Or so I've heard....... .....
