Hub Help: Special Needs Trike

A few years ago, we received this bike from the good people of charitable organization. It hasn’t been ridden much because of the fixed-gear single speed. We frequently ride on a tandem, but it would be nice for him to ride with autonomy, here and there.

The main goal is to allow for my son to coast without pedaling. Light gearing would be a bonus (3 to 7 speeds). I don’t know what the tube is called, where the hub is located, but it has a 1 1/2 inch outer diameter (about 38 mm). Looking for any help and/or advice for a replacement hub (or parts that will make it work).

They make an axle carrier for a freewheel for that trike. At that point you could run a 22 or 24 freewheel to get a low gear.

Ok. You've now proven to me you actually may know your shit when it comes to bikes.

@SLug. You should call my ex-shop. It's Bilco Bike Repair now, but the number is the same. There were at least half a dozen of those along with the freewheels in the shop when I left.
