Howdy Friends of Mahlon Dickerson Reservation!
This coming Friday through Sunday, April 18-20, we will be digging in a new trail near Saffin Pond. This is a new 0.65 mile trail that has been tagged and flagged with MCPC staff. This is an exciting first step towards an overall reroute plan to get more of the trails off of double track and out of persistently wet areas. This is the blue route below.

Time/Location:
- Friday - We will meet at Saffin Pond at 10am. If you can't meet until later in the day, no worries you will easily be able to find us in the woods. Just follow the yellow trail from Saffin and then find the pink flags. They are easy to follow. I don't expect to work much past 4 or 5.
- Saturday/Sunday - We will meet at Saffin Pond at 9am. Plan on finishing around 4 on Saturday and likely 12 on Sunday.
- I have limited hard harts, eye protection, and gloves that all are expected to wear. If you have your own PPE, please bring it.
- I will have most of the tools needed that we can carry to the work site. I am short on metal rakes and hoes so if you have one of those, please bring. If you have your own small hand saw or loppers those would be helpful in clearing the trail way. I’ll have my small chainsaw for the bigger logs.
