yeah... i'm trying to think up contingency plans just in case i'm screwed getting back from NJ: fly another day? rent a car? force my parents (or anyone) to take an impromptu road trip to bring me home?

silly me... i thought this shutdown would be over by the time this trip rolled around.

Right. My wife is worried for her 85y/o aunt who is heading to FL on the 11th.
