tithes...what to make of them.

Can you imagine now adding a "helium surcharge" to quotes for customers?

So helium is going up?

(couldn't resist - sorry)

in general - helium is a very interesting mining/capture operation.
Although it is a product of nuclear fusion...(note we aren't good at fusion)

Hopefully this is temporary.

Wasn't the goal of the tithes to bring manufacturing back to the U.S? This won't help.

I've avoided this thread by ignoring it for quite some time. Will occasionally pop in to read. Today I'm sharing. President of my company stopped in my office this morning. We're a metal fabrication company with several different product lines and a lot of welding. One of the products line just received a very large purchase order from a very large convenience store chain that will keep the shop very busy for a year. The vendor that supplies gases for the welding operations informed us that they are cutting our allocations in HALF and slapping a surcharge because of the Middle East debacle. Can you imagine now adding a "helium surcharge" to quotes for customers?
I know a couple of builders that add material cost on houses when the building material goes up, during the build. They had done this during Covid and now with the tithes.

Sounds like it's gonna cost me a lot more to recreate that scene from the movie Up. Coincidentally, I just saw they're coming out with a live action version starring Harrison Ford. Cuz why come up with new ideas when you can milk an old one to death?

It's almost comical how my municipal customers just accept tithe/etc charges on top of everything while my industrial customers pretend that there's no cost increases going on anywhere and act confused when I say there's cost increases.

"Escalation Claus?" Apparently, it can really screw over a buyer. I would have that removed or re-written to be negotiated as needed. I really need to renovate my house, but right now I have zero appetite for dealing with this B.S.

I'm currently working on a couple of projects where client procurement is pushing us to get pre-order specs out for equipment we haven't designed yet. So much fun...

Ya Ras Laffan in Qatar makes something like 30% of the world's helium... It took a drone strike last week and it's now down and out until further notice

So I think taco showed his hand this morning... With futures tanking, oil surging and the bond market freaking out... He made his post this morning that he was calling off the attacks on Iran's power plants... And that he was talking to the iranians... Which they say is bullshit.... But bottom line... I don't think (thankfully) he has the balls to land troops on Iranian soil... which means we have no hope of regaining control over the Strait of Hormuz.... Everything will remain fucked until that strait is open..... So my bet, hopefully is that he cuts a deal... will probably require him removing sanctions on Iran... no regime change... Iran will get to rebuild its missile Supply....maybe some token offering to give up it's enriched uranium over the course of the next 500 years..... Trump would probably agree to this although I doubt Israel would. We'll see.

Iran has a population of about 90,000,000. Germany had a population in 1939 of around 71,000,000. The empire of Japan in 1940’s population was around 72,000,000. In the 1940’s the whole world was against these two countries. The draft dodging moron has the U.S. isolated. I can’t express how f-ing stupid this war is… note: did not include Italy / Hungry because they had good food , crap army’s and navy’s.

yes, this is often overlooked by the Faux news hosts.

And unlike Germany and Japan...Iran doesnt have to put its army up against our army...It doesn't need an air force, tanks, helicopters, a navy, air craft carriers.....Missiles with cluster war heads and drones....That is all they need to shut down the strait and unless we are going to put people on the ground in Iran, we are not going to be able to stop 100% of that....and 100% is what is needed if shippers are going to take a chance sailing that strait.

I have to say its QUITE RICH that Bibi is out there slamming the Iranians for using cluster war heads which he reminded the TV reporters were banned by international law/treaty......(CCM) 108 countries signed this treaty....of course the Us and Israel have not and the Israelis have no issue using them in Gaza and Lebanon.

Oh and if you want to know the reaction to the president even hinting at talks with Iran....Just have to listen to a little fox news....Hannity last night, Brian Kilmede this morning....Knowing that the Orange moron is glued to the set....They were quick to point out that there can be NO DEAL with the current regime, they can't be "allowed" to ever hold the strait hostage and that we MUST get all of the enriched uranium.
