This is the perfect example of "System Engineering". Something like this can fix 2 problems and create 4 new ones. Or could be a total gamechanger and make me annoyed that I suffered so long with the old backpack system. LOL. I just have to try it to see how it goes. But at $200...

Very interesting! I knew that product existed. I'd really love to demo one to see its pros and cons. It's a bit of an expensive experiment though. It could be a total game changer.

    Stephens State Park Conditions

Today, with the help of Dennis K (thanks Dennis!), we cleared all of the waypoints marked in red. As far as I know, today's session completes the storm damage from 3 weeks ago. But I suspect there's a remaining issue or two as a result of miscommunications and poor tracking on my part...

Thanks for the excellent intel! Yes, that's a chubby one. One of JORBA's long 25" bar saws will be issued to me fairly soon, and then I have a chance against that one. My enemy right now is scheduling availability.

    Dickerson Mine Preserve Conditions

No need to go back. I rode it this evening and found the small tree on green and the larger one on red. Both easy access from Frank st lot. I'll get back to clear as soon as I can fit it in. Primary focus remains on Stephens for now though. Got 11 or 12 left to do there

How's the blowdown situation over at DM? This thread has become very quiet so I take that as good news. Can anyone confirm where that big downed tree is?

For the record, when going in from Natalie Drive, I've accessed the trails by following the path denoted in blue. (I'm on an Ebike, not hiking, so I don't mind a little extra distance). At least you don't have to fight thru too much brush, but the mud puddles can be epic.

So looks like there's at least 2 sessions of cutting left to do in Stephens, and one rootball extraction (on Hally Toe) that could be involved.. Please bear with us. I do have to avoid cutting in 90+ temps though... Heat exhaustion with all that PPE is is a real possibility for a...

Just reported to me a few minutes ago. Nothing bigger than 10-12". And that one fat root ball on hally toe. At least 2 on recently visited trails. Thx to Anthony C for the Intel.

    Stephens State Park Conditions

I promised myself I wasn't gonna go out tonight but my OCD got the better of me. Tonight's mission finished up the Northern side of the park. Assume all waypoints along my yellow path have been cleared. (Thanks to "O" for the assist on a couple of those). Aside from the single one...

    Stephens State Park Conditions

Tonight's 3 hour mission started at the Firetower Road access (the blue waypoint). I cleared a really big one on green (with one chunk so heavy I had to leave it right in the middle of the trail!). Then I got the three on Cooler. I doubled back and got the one on Suburu. Two 300+lb...
