looks like there are a couple of races flooding the park over the next couple of weekends: Trail fest 4/26 https://ultrasignup.com/register.aspx?did=120750 Some Wild Goose thing May 9-10 https://www.sassquadtrailrunning.com/camp

yeah they manufactured / taped off some tracks by the restrooms that were impossible to ride through, had to dismount and climb/duck like 3-4 times to get to red dot. not a big deal i guess but still annoyed me as an innocent babe in the woods trying to get my biweekly ride in lol. also it's...

anyone know what that event was this past weekend? looked like a bike race. kind of pissed me off though because they decided to put tape all over the place by the aux entrance restrooms and then they had some film crew on black eagle completely blocking the trail (the entire trail, no way to...

Is the Cherry Ridge Road parking area still fair game?

love a lot of stuff over there. porcupine to roto to the wall is a fantastic loop. i got stalked by a bear on the wall once. he followed me in stealth mode almost the entire trail. had my fastest route time ever that day. good times!

new extension is outstanding. amazing flow (better than the new timber???). will definitely be adding it to the rotation going forward. trail conference did a great job here

Is the Cherry Ridge Road parking area still fair game?

yeah it's in heavy use actually (i have seen 4-6 cars there pretty much every time i go...mostly hikers ironically), but the road itself is in pretty rough shape. clearly the park isn't doing any maintenance on it and i don't think the town (west milford?) does any maintenance either, so it's...

    Wawayanda State Park Conditions

they're still out there a week later, and it seems like a fairly major operation. maybe a dozen or so pickup trucks and a LOT of workers, maybe 20 or so. still have no idea what they're doing. trails are in pretty good shape except there are still three trees down at the beginning of turkey...

    Wawayanda State Park Conditions

hey does anyone know what they're doing at the pipeline? between pines and old coal they were using bunch of heavy equipment and there were 3-4 pickup trucks there. they were also shuttling people back and forth on some sort of offroad golf carts

again? oh boy. i swear there were more running races in the park this year than bike races. not necessarily a bad thing btw. it's easier to dodge the runners. the downside of course is that these runners do exactly zero trail prep/maintenance for the races. just put the little ribbons up and off...

ah ok i wasn't over that way. the more i think about that race the more insane i think those people are. you ask me to ride a 50 or 100 mile mountain BIKE race and i'd tell you to GTFO. these ppl did it on foot...

pumphouse just after that big log pile what unsanctioned trails did they use? they were all over double pond, pumphouse and the cherry ridge fire road from what i saw

    Wawayanda Events

that was insane. i've never seen that many people at once on any of these trails. i must say, REALLY pleasant people though. they were even offering me live encouragement on some of the steeper climbs. you haven't known pressure until you have 10 - 15 people on either side of the trail stopped...

i would just like to sincerely thank the person(s) who cleared mojo recently. 100% clear and eminently rideable 👏

    Wawayanda State Park Conditions

see but that's where i have big problems. besides tax revenue i also pay the annual park pass fee (even did it this year for something like a month of usage). so where does that money go? in 15+ years of riding there i've never once ever seen park workers on a trail. it's 100% left to the users...

it's too bad we can't string up power lines by the aux entrance and red dot trail then so the power company could take over maintenance from the park

what the hell do they keep paving iron mountain trail for? it seems like i've been reading about them paving this one specific trail since like april. meanwhile, i have to actively swerve around craters/potholes at both entrances

i do plenty. it's still not enough although i admit i'm never going to be carrying a weedwacker or a chainsaw in there at any point in this lifetime as it's a struggle just to get my own body around those trails i'll continue to report conditions though as i see them as that's what this thread...

    Wawayanda State Park Conditions

i've been riding there a long time and i've never seen it overgrown like this. there are pockets of areas that get a little bushy towards the end of the season but this year there are huge stretches of trail that you can't see whatsoever. after 3 separate crashes due to the wheel or my cranks...

    Wawayanda State Park Conditions

yeah i get the impression there hasn't been much biking here this season. trails like red dot are actually unrideable, not because of downed trees but because you literally can't see the trail. at all... tremendous thanks for actually lugging a weed whacker with you!
