How was the cyclist "right?" He ran a stop sign and rode out in front of oncoming traffic. Without being able to see the signage facing the cars I would say the driver was wrong for leaving the scene but the collision was the cyclist's fault.

It really is. Most of the time mine is "off" but it's nice to have for those weekend rides at 6MR or Hartshorne.

If you're worried about getting out quickly enough then you can wind the traction pins in all the way. While leaving them out a little can really make for a solid connection it will also make it more difficult to unclip.
