First timers at Mountain Creek Park

On that note, lift stoppage closing in on an hour today. You'd think they'd be able to communicate what's going on, how long any repair is likely to take...pretty much anything. Instead it's completely rumor and word of mouth. Kind of ridiculous.

    Lewis Morris Conditions

Agreed! I rode over there on Tuesday for the first time this season and the new trail additions make such a difference in the overall enjoyment of the place. Awesome work and also will look out for TM days to help out.

    The DIY thread - DIYourself

I'm not quite that strict but I know of way too many people with life changing or life ending injuries from ladders or falling off of roofs that I completely agree with this.

Is strava going from suck to blow?

It's possible that this isn't totally new, but the web interface now seemingly has some nice stuff within the map view, including display of global/personal heatmaps and some filtering of segments based on road type, duration, and elevation. I was trying to find appropriate roads to do some...

    The DIY thread - DIYourself

I had a similar situation and went with backer rod and one single, gigantic, application of caulk and it turned out looking like a toddler smeared it on. I'd also have reservations about trying to get silicone to stick to an existing layer of silicone, but sounds like that's worth trying.

2024 Gravity Season (races, freeride events, etc...)

Watching the broadcast on Max mostly worked for me, with the exception of a few seconds of black screen that would show up maybe every 5 minutes. The commentary with Gwin and Tahnee, while she was in the booth, was quite good even if lacking the excitement from the Red Bull broadcasts. In terms...

    Car-spotting thread

Pretty significant fraction of the total number of Vectors in existence. Assuming that one of them is probably this car. Haven't watched the video in a while, but pretty sure that it was located in NJ. I remember reading about it in car magazines growing up, and the story around the Andre...

2024 Gravity Season (races, freeride events, etc...)

Excited for Aaron to be commentating. Maybe more excited to not have Cedric commentating.

    Car-spotting thread

Definitely was interested in an Elise for a while as well, but at some point realized I'm not actually hardcore enough to drive one of those on any kind of regular basis. I think the S2000 is at least as good as a 2000s Boxster in most respects, or at least they're close enough that it's...

    Car-spotting thread

The S2000 is a case of a car where I can actually understand the increase in values. It's such a good car, wasn't made in huge quantities, reliable, incredible to drive. I don't know what they "should" cost, but it did feel like they were undervalued for a long time.

Is the inflated Bike market finally crashing?

Wasn't Rapha looking to get more into the general lifestyle/fitness market similar to Lululemon or similar brands? Perhaps unrelated to the closing of the small office in Arkansas, but definitely seemed like a large gamble to enter into an already saturated market. I have a couple of Stages...

    Rattling MTB Marathon '24 (was '23) - M.A.S.S.

Not me but I probably saw that guy as well. I was in a plain grey jersey. At some point I asked if you wanted to get by, you said "not really" and I said " well you're going to regardless" and moved out of the way. The rocky tech stuff looked cool to ride on a normal outing but there were a...

    Rattling MTB Marathon '24 (was '23) - M.A.S.S.

Yeah that's pretty accurate 😂 Didn't exactly have a chance to do introductions but think I was passed by @Norm a couple of times and followed @Stef for a bit before I completely blew up. Felt pretty bad all day for whatever reason but was pacing around where I'd hoped, then the wheels came...

Do we have any more independent record stores?

There is this place, which I noticed the other day. Looks tiny and can't vouch for it but it does exist. https://www.facebook.com/p/Penny-Lane-of-Chester-NJ-100064680550066/

    Rattling MTB Marathon '24 (was '23) - M.A.S.S.

I'll (almost certainly) be there. I was doing a decent job preparing, but have been battling some kind of cold/sinus infection type thing for the past week so just hoping for a non-embarrassing showing. Looking forward to checking it out, everyone seems to be such a fan of this race.

    Sub 6 minute mile?

Yeah, now I'm kind of curious as well. Not sure if I really want to try to train this, but could be interesting.

    Sub 6 minute mile?

That's a great (and challenging!) goal. Hope that you update us on progress. Two data points here. Every few years, I decide that I should be able to do some amount of running as a semi-athletic person who grew up playing soccer etc. Every time I ease into it, try to be super conservative...

Lots of cloud cover at exactly the wrong time but did manage a few very ominous looking phone pictures.

    Stephens State Park Conditions

Good amount of stuff down at Stephens today (as expected). Did my best to overlay these on a map. Noted stuff on Green, towards the beginning of lower Maze where it connects with Pink, and Blue Rock. Green also has a minor lake in the middle of the trail now.
