    Post your BooBoo's

Dangerous time to be the ear of a NJ mountain biker. Sorry to see this. Fortunately that spot looks a lot easier to treat and heal so I'm sure that you'll have a good outcome. My only piece of advice is that if there is any sign of an issue with infection to get the infectious disease...

So, definitely agree with this based on the latest course of events! The original culture from the cut that was taken on Saturday came back this morning and confirmed that there was a drug resistant bacterial infection. Based on that information, the ID doctor put me on levaquin, which I...

I appreciate the response. I'd considered that this could be the case but hadn't really given it significant thought. Perhaps I will. I do have a picture of the suture in my ear on Monday, a full week after the appointment to remove and the day after my 48 hour hospital stay. Just doesn't seem...

    Post your BooBoo's

An update. My total hospital stay was right around 48 hours with multiple rounds of IV antibiotics. Nothing about the experience was fun, but also a reminder of "I have it pretty good" being around so many people going through true medical crises. The morning after being discharged, my ear was...

    Leadville

I can definitely vouch for it affecting people differently. I've ridden/hiked in a few places at altitude and never really noticed that much of a difference. I'm sure that if I'd been measuring power, it would have been down somewhat, but definitely no sensation of being more out of breath than...

I'd agree, but can also understand not wanting to ride some of the descents on drop bars or mess with the bike geo to get them to work.

    Leadville

Obviously all the talk is around drop bars, but I'm surprised that there aren't more riders doing something along these lines for long MTB events:

I'm starting to see the value in those moto trials style 3/4 helmets. Riding one of the easiest sections of trail at Sterling two weeks ago, I just didn't see a small stump right at the edge of the trail due to a combination of it being slightly overgrown and having fogged glasses from a humid...

    Parts washer and ultrasonic cleaner

Hard to say. It's worked pretty well for me on a range of things. I haven't looked into it but you may also be able to run a more noxious solvent if necessary.

    Parts washer and ultrasonic cleaner

Ultrasonic has been sold. Located in Randolph NJ not far from Dickerson mine. Also happy to meet up at most of the local spots. Both of these work fine, just don't find that I use them much. Parts washer is essentially this CRC product but an older version: https://www.benchtoppro.com/...

2025 Gravity Season (races, freeride events, etc.)

La Thuile Q2. Craziness. So fast, so steep. Really looking forward to the race.

    The DIY thread - DIYourself

I had a similar situation and wound up climbing over ladders to get in and out. "Oops, need another screw, let me climb up and down these precarious ladders and walk all the way around the house ".

    Stephens State Park Conditions

Nice work! This would have been on Wed evening though, seemed like it was very recent. We cleared out all of the other debris but still a portion of the tree blocking the trail. Honestly more like a large branch than a chainsaw project, but still not something that you can just ride through.

No, it's on the corresponding climbing trail "hally toe" to the left in that image.

    Stephens State Park Conditions

Neglected to grab a picture but small tree down on hally toe right around 3/4 of the way up. Handsaw would take care of the portion that's actually in the trail. Will update with TF marker.

    Free bike tools

If they don't get picked up locally I'd be happy to ship to you.

Pretty sure it's a presta but I'll double check. The gauge is for spoke tension.

It would be great if someone wanted to take this as an entire lot, but I'm also willing to pass along separately. Trying to thin down the collection of redundant and unused tools. I think that most are self explanatory, but the headset (or BB) cup removal tool measures the same size as the Park...

2025 XC MTB Season Discussion Thread (Schedule in 1st Post)

I think we probably rode together a bit at some point. I finished right around the same time in the 40-something to 50-something category. I agree with your notes. Really fun trails and perfect conditions. It was a long day of driving for the length of the race but ultimately well worth it.
