Thanks for all the info, guess it looks like ill just use my trek 6series and just change out the tires. About the comment on taking bikes into the train, I think its ok for NJ transit and the PATH, not 100% but I think I remember reading somewhere that it is ok.

Hey guys, i was thinkin about getting a specialized rockhopper for around 800 or a trek 4300 disc for 600, or trek 6000... any thoughts that could point me in the right direction

i found a cannondale super v sl full suspension bike on craigslist for about $550, it is a 21.5", and he is givin a 19.5" frame with it as well
im 5'7" so how hard would it be moving the parts onto the smaller cannondale frame?
