Fyi, ALL cues systems, regardless of number of gears, use 11 speed chain. Their spacing is identical regardless of number of speeds, so you only "need" to have 11 speed CUES/Linkglide derailleurs and shifters, which can be used to replace any CUES equipment in a pinch.

For those playing along at home: it worked great. There is even room with the current brake caliper to shave another millimeter off the brake side, so there's practically no problem. A nice Float 32 resurrected, and several parts saved from the landfill.

You only really need to send stuff to "technical" repairers if waterproof is 100% a requirement. If you aren't going on an expedition, or wearing a dry suit, well...considering that most membrane-style wear doesn't actually work to keep you DRY, this is a low requirement for most repair work...

It's more about reducing corrosive potential in bicycle shocks. If you will service it regularly, atmospheric air won't hurt it...if you don't, though, there's a good chance to simply start corroding the shims/other assorted parts.

Hold the wedge in line with the stem, and get a measurement from the top where the bolt head rests, to the bottom of the wedge. That looks like a standard M8, which I should have. You can porch pickup it (Colts Neck or Keansburg), or I can pass it along.
