Spoiler Alert don't look at this thread if you don't want to know who won what
Did not feel like resurrecting an old thread so I'm starting another.
This weekend was pretty action packed as far as pro cycling is concerned.
First Tom Pidcock winning strade bianche 2023. Watching this dude gap other riders on the gravel sections was pretty impressive. The camera Motos could not keep up with him.
They had some shots where it looked like he was surfing through deep gravel at around 30 mph. Really impressive stuff.
Then in the US Gravel scene, Keegan Swenson and Chris Blevins duking it out at BWR San Diego was also really fun to follow. Although no live coverage, the promoters were doing a great job with like instagram stories following the action. These two were also just absolutely flying on "single track". It wasn't super technical, but given these guys are on drop bar bikes, it was pretty insane. They were on a different level at the end of the race.
If I had to bet $, I would have put it on Blevins. He's done some WT races, and he's won a UCI MTB World Cup and Short Track world champ. I thought he was just a more elite level of an athlete, but I was totally wrong. Keegan took the win.
Also for all the Sofia Gomez Villafane haters, she also won the women's race. I didn't follow as closely, but when I saw she was on a solo break with tons of miles. If she took the win on a solo break, good for her. That's also really impressive.
