Accurate Historical Weather

As we saw this weekend there were a few pop up isolated downpours. I looked through my apps and did a half assed googling to find something that would accurately tell me what happened in the past few days of weather.

What does everyone use for that beta?

weather underground lets you see historical data, but its on a per-station basis not a broad overview (i.e. you can select a station and view the history (rainfall/temp/wind ect) that it recorded) for that specific device.

it works well if there is a weather station in the area you are interested in.

I ask cause the one I used yesterday showed no storm came through by CR since Thursday, but I went over to Cromwell for the first time and by the time it was too late, it was hard to believe Thursday was the last precipitation.

The problem is most of the places use airports for the history reporting. Hartshorne uses JFK, Allaire uses EWR. CR uses Trenton Mercer county airport. Not sure how that helps at all.

USGS stream gauges (most have a rain gauge too) are a good source for rainfall amount. This is Bound Brook:

You can see a map here:

There's also this, I have not looked into the source data though

you can manually select a local (private) weather station if there is one in the area. (my weather station is on there, i can confirm that the data matches, its just not local to any parks to be useful)

If you're looking for recent rainfall this has been my go to:

Has been quite accurate in my use.
