I noticed in the Carfax report for my Mazda, which just turned 40k miles, that a service performed by my Indy mechanic (when it had 20k miles) listed services that were not done. See picture. I had just gone in for an oil change but I suspect one of his staff mistook my car for someone else’s and listed services that didn’t apply to my car.
I asked him a while back to have the record corrected and he said he would but it’s been about 3 weeks and no change. I can’t edit it myself obviously. A Google search says to contact Carfax and open a case and to provide evidence that services were done. But I’m trying to do the opposite (show that things weren’t done).
I do have a paper record of the service that shows just the oil change and I suppose I could use that to file a case. But before I go down that likely clumsy road, for those of you that work at Carfax-affiliated shops, can’t the shop simply update the record? or how would a shop go about fixing thier error ?
