Got started with my 2014 cycling commute last week.
Two awesome weeks in that respect as I was able to ride to work three days each week.
To get to my desk by 7:30am on Thursday (important meeting) , I was on the bike by 5:30am ( cold and dark ) all was well until I flatted out in Newark. Michelin Pilot Trackers had been the single best aid to my rough commute so one flat a year I can live with. Normally have two C02s but one of them has already mostly used so I had to use the second C02 to fill the tire after I swapped the rear tube. No worries and off I went. Second flat came on Truck Route 1-9, twenty minutes later. Craaaaap.
My rate of seeing other cyclists on truck 1-9 is also about once per year so I was not in a good place. At this exact moment a cyclist came by and asked me if I needed an assist. He was on 1-9 for the first time ( normally rides Rt 7 ) and gave me a CO2 but no spare tube as he rides tubeless. I rummaged around and dug out a patch kit from 4 years ago, patched, inflated and hauled ass to work.
THANK YOU FOR THE ASSIST FELLOW COMMUTER!! 🙂
Perhaps good karma payback for a major effort in TourDeLake to get a fellow rider back in working order.
Epiloge : Unfortunately I did not find the source of the problem until my return commute at 11pm and one more flat (from a tiny invisible metal sliver) but I had loaded up on C02 and tubes by then.
All good. Swapping wheels and removing seat post rack and gonna have a nice ride now….
