I remember that section from the late 80s or so. One year in the Pine Hill Enduro, several minutes (groups) of riders (15 to 20) got stacked up behind slower riders there. It was like being in a crazy Chinese Dragon twisting and dancing between the trees. Fun stuff!I remember riding a loop that was apparently an old moto enduro trail that wove through trees over short (6' or so) and somewhat steep mounds left over from old quarry work. Does anyone remember this and/or know if the trail is still there?
Jim will be leading a 40-mile ride in Brendan Byrne on February 7, 2026. Riders will meet at the BTB office at 8AM. This is a great opportunity to get a fantastic overview of all that Brendan Byrne has to offer in a single ride that will also test your stamina, sense of humor, and bike ownership (A few people have been known to put their bikes up for sale immediately after doing one of Jim's rides!). I predict that this year's 40-miler is going to be epic.Anyone interested in seeing what Brendan Byrne has to offer should try one or more of Jim McCabe's Wednesday evening rides. The ride starts at the park office parking lot at 4:30. Jim's rides are like a box of chocolates: You never know what you're gonna get. It is usually a mixture of marked and unmarked traisl; the unmarked trails (worn fire cuts, old and current dirt bike trails, deer paths, etc.) are the secret sauce of these rides. I'd be surprised if there is anyone else out there than can connect the wide variety of trails in Brendan Byrne the way Jim does. The rides are generally at a relaxed pace, the mileage is usually around 15 miles, and we usually ride about 2-2.5 hours.
