The comments are interesting. The high bidder received an email that I'm assuming stated what the reserve is and he politely declined.
I agree with the sentiment there is a narrow demographic for this car. Folks who came of age when this car was new (essentially: Gen X) and have the desire for such a car that will essentially be a collection piece that can't be driven much. You're not buying this as your only collector car to drive to the local Cars & Coffee (unless you trailer it). While there's the "yeah - go find another one in similar condition" factor, I would imagine there is still a very small buyer pool.
While I think a 5.0 LX notchback would be a fun car, I would definitely want an example that could be driven more.

funny I saw that too...I mean it depends...cant really tell much about the body or underside in those pics....if its rusty, its worthless....Carrol Shelby snake/signature on the back should take off another $1000 for that.....390 2v, probably make about 200hp if your lucky....That aside, its cool, I wouldnt mind rocking that.Wow ! Don’t see too many of these around and it’s got a 390!

I love it. I used to work for a couple that had a car like this from the same era. Everything was so manual. When you adjusted the climate control, like the vent or temp, you weren’t pushing electronic buttons, you could feel and hear the click and sliding of vents and mechanical things moving with your fingers.My first car.
