I was content a month ago to pass on this 'fad" for another season, but then got bored and started to spec out an under $1000 fat bike which wasn't a Framed Boris. Nothing against either, just wanted something different. The original budget was $1500 with the RSD being the top contender, but reality set in that I'm not likely riding this more than 20 times a year so the budget dropped to under 1K. Which means I'm going 170 in the rear. So here goes my new specs.
On-One Fatty frame (250)
9zero7 take-off AL 150mm fork (65)
Boris X9 strip from BD (299)
Raceface evolve bars from Luke (10)
SLX shift/rear only (35)
FSA DX headset (35)
The strip from BD had no bars/shifters so going with 1x10 SLX instead
So for $694, I'll have a fat to slug around with this winter
expected to weigh in at a stout 35/36 lbs, but got some floaters and other bits to target around 32
