The Cedar Swamp Trail at the 850 acre Dryden Kuser Natural Area which is located at High Point State Park in Montague Township,
Dedicated in 1965, it was the first Natural Area in the State of New Jersey. It is named for State Senator Dryden Kuser, a noted
conservationist and son of Anthony and Susie Dryden Kuser, who donated the land that became High Point State Park in 1923.
This wetland that was created by a retreating glacier over 15,000 years ago. Thousands of years ago a lake covering thirty acres
and reaching depths of twenty feet filled this small valley. Over time, mosses built bogs and trees sprouted. One of the unique
trees found there in abundance is the Atlantic white cedar. This kind of forested wetland is usually found close to sea level and
not in the mountains. At an elevation of 1,500 feet, this Atlantic white cedar bog is believed to be the highest in the world.

No biking, just hiking
