Chimney Rock Conditions

Blue is running good up to the interior connector with the usual 1-2 muddy spots. Past the interior connector there are several muddy spots.

Lower blue is wet and muddy. If you don’t mind getting a little wet or some mud on your bike, give it a rip.

I did all of yellow. Sticky, slightly soft in places as expected and only a few patches of mud.

This was the worse I found on the top of yellow on the trail that runs parallel to Miller.

Came upon this fallen trunk further along that same trail.

But I was able to clear it myself, well at least most of it. It’s no longer completely blocking the path.

Rest of yellow was pretty good including the main vein.

That patch on the descent was still pretty wet and will likely remain so for many days to come.

I’m also pleased to report I set a new pr on high tech. Was able to climb the switchbacks without stopping. 🥳

That puddle is a great candidate for a "stick nick" to drain the water. An easy 1 min trail maintenance anyone can do on a ride. The mushy mud spot needs rock armor. Thanks for clearing what you could of the log! I'm wary of touching anything with vines on it because it could be poison, but those vines don't look hairy so should be ok.

No problem, glad to do my own small part!

Oh yeah, I always wear my riding gloves when handling logs and branches. Learned my lesson the hard way a few seasons ago cutting a fallen tree with my bare hands and not recognizing what the hairy vine running its length was. 😳

Funny...I was going to say those are 100% posion ivy vines. I've seen them enough at Six Mile.

@gmb3 is right, grab a stick and give the water a path to go. Some of us at Six Mile carry one of these for just that purpose. Fits in the pack.

Ran a few laps around Cromwell. This place dries quick!

Nice trim job on the black connector trail from Vosseler to Cromwell. 👍

New berms and that table top hiding the culvert pipe are sweet. 👍

A surprising amount of water collects here. Threw the pipe in after we created a pond after the last big rain.

I worked on the muddy patch on main vein today.
Dug out all of the organic material and established a drain. I think I got down to the clay/rock but will need to check on it next week after it has some time to dry. This spot was a mess.
Will likely need another pass to tune it up.

Any 'planned' sessions coming up?

Did everything except black and Cromwell. It was all fine except blue which is still wet but not over the top soft. Mostly splashes.
Luckily an a$$hole in a moto saw fit to roll it and didn’t seem to be very gentle. Big tracks.

Hmmm, I wonder if that was the same guy I saw riding a 4 wheeler in Cromwell. I only caught a glimpse and I wanted to convince myself it was perhaps a park ranger doing ranger things.
