Chimney Rock Conditions

Sampled most of the park today and racked up 10 or so sweaty, hot miles.

Nothing to report. No trees down and the park is about as dry as it will ever get.

This heat is too much for me though. I started feeling slightly nauseous and tired about halfway through.

Took a long breather at the covered bridge and sipped some water which helped! 😀👍

During my last ride there were a bunch of kids swimming below the bridge on Gilbride. Thought about jumping in.

Started early to beat this oppressive heat. Met up with @Glenn Rides After 4 PM CST and got a good bit in. This is what we saw on what we did.
Happy 4th everyone.

There’s a shit ton down. One on the ballfield loop downhill (the newer run) that’s a bigger one. I think Joe marked it above. That’s probably the priority as it’s a bigger one and you come into it with speed.

Current state of the park:
  • Cut out 13 things this morning. Chainsaw died on the 14th
  • Dirt is fine, no real standing water anywhere
  • I did not get Glenn's "Old Man in Tree" mess. That's pretty close to Newman's so easy access
  • I didn't get anything on yellow, which includes (at least) the 2 that Kirt posted
  • Unknown: Orange by the river, lower blue
  • The one on the ballfield loop which I said was probably a priority is where my chainsaw battery died
  • Otherwise the park is almost entirely free of deadfall
Please PLEASE stop once in a while and toss off some of the garbage on the trails. Rear derailleurs everywhere thank you in advance.

Got what I could on this route:

E-bike turned into a bike less than half way thru so abandoned plan to hit back, Cromwell, or anything on the other side of Gilbride. Only thing I didn’t get was the large one on the Ballfield loop downhill. Gonna take a bigger chainsaw than mine,

Got this one on lower red and a similar smaller one upper red I was too lazy to pic:

Did my best to clean up this one on white. What’s remaining requires bigger saw, tho the unintentional ride around any get officially burned in?

I think @Norm posted this but just to be safe, this exists on descent from Ballfield lot:

Anything else posted by @Jrzjoe or @Glenn Rides After 4 PM CST was taken care of by the time I got to it, guessing by @Norm by the looks of it haha.

I highly recommend leaving the rest of this to a professional. If you cut the wrong thing you may end up proving the expression Widow Maker. It’s a bit tenuous.

Wow you guys are fast! Was planning to hike in today with my silky but looks like the easy stuff (aka, what I can take on with a hand saw) has been taken care of. 👍
