So the last time I had a “bike computer” was a Specialized wireless one from 2000. Since then about 2015 I’ve been using Run keeper to record rides for mileage, average speed, duration, elevation etc.
When the dura came out with its advertised 120 hour battery life I became interested. Especially since I’ve been interested in bike packing/touring.

Mine arrived yesterday. I charged it to 100% and used it today for the first time.
I’m very impressed. It took me some time to learn how to use it with many questions answered with the chat online support bot. The whole experience was stellar. Especially since I really don’t know what I’m doing.
The app works great on the phone.

Can’t wait to download a route. I’m currently doing Intel for two tours this summer. Empire State trail from Buffalo to Tarrytown (Sleepy Hollow).
And also Wilmington Ny to the cross Vermont trail and the XNHAT (New Hampshire) to Bethel Maine and back.
I’ll keep y’all up to date on the performance but so far I’m impressed. Cheers

I’ve seen nothing but good things with these, except like any of the other solar units, charging is basically nonexistent.

Guy on bikepacking.com said he charged it twice in 6 months of many 4-7 hour rides or something like that. 😳🥸

So doing 4–10 day tours is one less thing to deal with. I’m down

I have a planning spreadsheet for Empire State Trail - I'm planning a trip the other way, from Battery Park to Buffalo over 8 days and then Amtraking it home. It's on my One Day list.

So far: Did not continue its sync with my chest strap heart rate monitor for two rides. Re-synced it and hasn’t been a problem for the last two rides.
First time planning a route from the app to the dura. Couldn’t believe how simple it was and how well it worked even though I programmed what I thought was a road but ended up being a trail with some singletrack as part of my route for gravel which was an unexpected surprise but cool that it recognized it.
I’m a happy camper so far.. 😀

I’ve done it North to the last Amtrak stop and took the train back. Most of that north section are on roads so it’s not super interesting. I want to do the West portion to Buffalo but more than likely over 2 days.

I received the free map from NY state. It’s huge!! Almost too much info lol lol lol.
Not interested in the North section. Even though it runs very close to my buddy’s property in Wilmington NY. I am interested in going east from his house to Bethel Maine via x Vermont and xnhat trails.
