A bicyclist died Monday morning after being hit by a New Jersey State Police SUV in Warren County, investigators announced Tuesday.
The person was hit by the trooper, who was driving an unmarked police SUV, shortly after 6 a.m. on Willow Grove Street near Brook Hollow Drive in Hackettstown, according to a statement from the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office.The rider, who was not identified, was taken to Hackettstown Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 7:17 a.m., the office said.No other information was released Tuesday as the circumstances leading to and surrounding the crash were still under investigation.The attorney general’s office investigates any time there is a death that occurs during an encounter with police.
