ok fat heads, heres my question need some input

im looking around and i see some parts i can use to build another bike

im gonna say it could possibly be ridden by the wife as im looking for a S frame again

my choices are
1. chinese carbon frame that sell for 475 on fleabay
2. used specialized fatboy frame for about 450

what would you choose?

im about 230-240 after eating and ride ringwood mostly nothing crazy like jumping shit, would that be a big no-no on the carbon frame?

i was thinking if i got the specialized frame to use the bluto on it and run 3.8s or if i got the carbon, was to use the carbon spesh fork and make that the 4.6 tire bike and put the bluto and 3.8s on my current expert

just in the planning stage right now, just want to see what most fat bikers thought process was

any input on chinese frames? firsthand?

thanks guys!

anyone here selling a used small frame witha 190qr rear?

I'm thinking of getting a Chinese carbon fatbike frame also. You may also want to look at Sarma. They have an all carbon fatbike bundle that includes the frame, fork, bars, seatpost & carbon wheel set for $1400. The only draw back I see is the frame is 177mm rear.

That's a great price with all the carbon parts
Let us know when you build one and review

Too be honest, at your weight a cheap carbon frame will explode. You'll be better off with a Fatboy.

Would the spesh carbon comp be ok?
Not sure if that has a restriction as well

That sale they have is so tempting to say the least.

Anyone have a small Fatboy frame they're looking to sell?

Thanks

Yep that's what I was comparing it to that's why I asked if anyone here has one to sell for whatever reason

I would say the alloy Fatboy would be the best bet. There's not a lot of weight difference in the grand scheme of things. My Fatboy Alloy was 23 pounds, which is lighter than most carbon bikes.

I do love my alum and was considering the carbon just for arguments sake

Bonus question

According to the interwebs
some 135mm QR front axles are convertible to for the 150mm Bluto with new hub end caps and a spacer

Does the stout hub have a replaceable end cap to avoid relacing a 150mm hub

Not a fan of the S bikes, high top tube for the lose. The small fat boy has a 30 inch stand over. If any bike needs stand over its fat bikes, Ride a packed trail and have to step off in deep powder and the boys will have a meeting with the tt😱

Are we talking about the same Fatboys? Because they have the lowest standover of any fat bike I've owned, which is all of them.

I love the fit of my small frame plus 90mm stem with the 170 cranks.

I can see what you mean about stand over in snow but I try to put one foot down and avoid getting both feet off and standing directly over the bike in any condition

Stand over is unreliable as a fitting factor unless one likes to be in that position

Anyway do my stout hubs replaceable endcaps so I can make them fit Bluto???
