Formula 1 - 2012

Hey kids,

Well, I've been debating whether or not to create the 2012 thread for the F1 season. 2011 was, due to the RB/Vettel domination, a season I ignored much of.

Alas, I awake this morning and check the qualifying results for Australia. McClaren in the front row, RB in the third row, and Schumi in the 2nd row (and a Lotus in the 2nd row too!). And, the top 8 qualifiers are all within 1 second of each other. And sadly, the boyz from Maranello are nowhere 🙁

Okay maybe, just maybe, this year might be something...so here is your 2012 F1 thread...

Interesting results in quali indeed. Mercedes & McClaren look like they could be a force to be recconed with this year. The true test will be in the race.

Sergio "Checo" Perez came 8th!! after starting in last position! :getsome:

NJ maybe...... but Austin is on!

I got a group of friends already planning the trip...unfortunately I most likely wont be able to make it.😡

Timmy, these are for you.

Rain is always the great equalizer.
Great for Perez, Great for Ferrari. McClaren were brain dead with their pit stops today, they're lucky to get hammy on the podium. WTF happened to Red Bull?

Hard to follow F1 with all the other ventures I have in life, but happy to see my boy JB back to winning form and those pesky red bulls somewhere besides the podium

Well, how about that? It looks as though 2012 might be turn out to be an interesting season.

A loose front wheel for Schumi? Seriously? 😡

bad strategy for Checo 😡 should've stopped one more time for tires 😡

[all of a sudden, im an expert 🙄]

Haha! Nobody out here in the real world is. Initial strategy is easy--it is the tweaking during the race that is hard...especially for us mortals as we don't have telemetry, folks who can focus on (and only on) splits & trends of the competition, what everybody else is doing, what everybody else in the pit appears to be preparing to do, etc...

Hell, tweaking the sway bar adjustments during the race was a bit of a crap shoot for me when I was IN the freaking car.

Though, maybe you have some sort of countryman telekinetic connection to Checo?

Holy crap! It looks like the F1 race in Jersey City is a little farther along than I thought...

Bernie seems serious. Some construction is underway (!). OTOH, it looks like it is already starting to slip a year.

It'll probably happen as by the time it comes along I'll be on the left coast...'just my luck.

Congrats to Maldonado & Williams.

Schumi got screwed here. It was pretty clear to me that Senna was set for a mid-track line and Schumi was coming in hot on the outside. Senna clearly jinked left, Schumi started to change lines back to the inside, Senna came back and the old man had no where to go but up his arse. At best it was a racing incident and I think Senna s/b the guy with the penalty.

I lost track of him during the race; why did he DNF? He lost his left rear on the first lap and got it back to the pits--looks like he made it to lap 37 after that.

yep, that was the start, but he had transmission problems later on. Hopefully he has better luck at Monaco

What a season so far! Looking forward to Monaco in 2 weeks.

Shumi was pretty pissed looking when his car stopped.
Think he sent "someone" to "take care" of Senna's car?:hmmm:
Seemed like a racing incident to me.
