Generic Pro Road Cycling Thread

Hesjedal looked crazy-strong today. Attempted to clear out some deadwood. No spoilers, but it made the last 15k a freaking blast. (Unless your name started with Scarp and ended with oni.) Someone misplaced his "just wait for Sky to do everything" memo.

Bummer about scarponi, hopefully we will see some stage hunting out if him.

Who's gonna watch the Tour of California? It starts Sunday. I read today they are throwing a lot of climbing in the race this year. It's on NBC/NBC Sports Network.

I will watch and expect Sagan to rule again, possibly win if there isn't much tt ( have not looked at the courses).

Giro has been great, another good today

I am not sure if Sagan can handle the climbing day after day and he will lose too much time on the big climbs. I am looking for TJ to finally step up and win something.

Ah, Gahd, I've gotta split my already negligible focus now? I'm just getting over Wiggins' slip-and-slide episode and subsequent shaky ride into Pescara. (He'd already been gapped going UP that weeny lil hill, how's that bode for the mountains?) Fook it, I'll just read about the TOC here.

That's we thought last year until he came in second on that long uphill finish. The TT did him in last year. We will see

Damn the giro is good this year. I will admit part of the draw is the small roads and little towns. The road was like 10' wide at yesterday's finish. I can't wait to ride there again. Race related SKY just loves to have multiples in the top 10but I hope Nibali can hold on to take sky down.

ATOC is a snooze and I am following but not into it at all.

I stopped watching the Giro when the ATOC started, not enough time in the day and non-HD sucks. Your boy Sagan pulled one out yesterday but the heat and climb did him in at Palm Springs.

I am still banking on TeeJay. I don't think he has ever won a pro tour?

The Giro is a bit more exciting, I have been reading up on it. Can Wiggins come back 3 or so min down right?

Wiggans lost much more time today, he is done.

Who doesn't like jens voigt, awesome win today.

I just watched the ATOC stage, wow what a great race. Although I would have loved to see a sprint between Sagan, Farrar, Thor I am happy with the way Jens attacked and took it to the sprinters.

Wiggo and hysedal out of the giro. Cadel is looking very similar to when he won the tour. Nibali better watch out because TT.

I have to chime in on the state of cycling.
http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/my-results-are-proof-that-cycling-has-changed-says-froome

Cycling has changed? Maybe Froome needs to read cyclingnews.com. What are we up to? 5 positive controls from the Giro. And already a couple from Le Dauphine. Not much change. We'll probably be talking about some new drug in 5 years that the top guys are all taking now.

Yes with Froome leading the way, let them all dope and may best doper win. That or ban the whole classic series for 5 years. Regrettably i still thought the best tours were when it was a free for all.

Attacking wise they were. Not sure if the field has been leveled a bit or what because the Giro was had much more attacking in the mountains that the previous year. Only time will tell.

Anyone following the Vuelta?

It had been fanfuckingtastic. Today had an Ardennes style finish and it was simply great with a bunch of top names battle it out for the top spot. Much less scripted them the tour and similar to the Giro this year.

I have just been reading about it since it does not appear to be on tv for me. I hope Horner can get back in the lead.
