Gravel bike recommendations...

While not as cheap as the Costco sale, this is still a pretty good deal

How did you miss the Costco Intense sale?
If I’m understanding correctly it’s easy to miss unless you happen across one in the store. I’ve been wanting the 951 trail. I can’t find a Costco that stocks them, and the website, so I’ve read, only shows it as $2999. The price reductions are only in store. I f someone knows where one is in L I’ll very likely go buy one.

Only smalls left but cheaper than above.

@Cole

Check out Trek Red Barn Refresh. I know two people that got bikes from there and were very happy with them.

Not sure if you’re a 58 or maybe 60cm frame on a checkpoint but you can at least get an idea.

For what it’s worth my previous ALR5 with mechanical GRX 800 series was awesome I only sold it because I could not pass up the deal I got privately on my like new used SL7 (full carbon with AXS).

Thanks I'll take a look

@Cole, everything is upgradable except the frame itself. So… you want through axles (front and rear for control) and clearance for at least 43c tires (more would be even better). You don’t need to put the biggest tires you can fit on it right away. But I promise you, it’s the most versatile way to go. One bike that you can ride on road, gravel, tame single track on the same ride and do so safely AND comfortably. BTW, if you can’t find anything at an LBS, Both State and Polygon are better quality than their prices would suggest.

But I would try your LBS first. There’s more to buying a bike than just the $.

Just my 2c.

Cool bike, I have the same one but not wired for lights. I use it on trails without much rocks, or light rocks as well as field edges, and gravel. I put a dropper on and love it.

We ride on Tuesday nights out of Ramanessin in Monmouth Co if you're ever in the area.

If you come, dont worry about fukin up the ride, it usually goes to shit anyway.😉

I'll keep it in mind

It's been 2 years since I posted this last. Figured I'd bump it to see if there are any new recommendations under $2k. Still not finding much in my size on Facebook marketplace...

In case anyone is still on the hunt.....You can get a Lauf Seigla from their outlet for 1900-2000 currently....VERY lightly used options in there.... and you wouldn't be buying a gravel bike that's behind the times. I'm really tempted myself as that's cheaper than a frameset alone.....
