Help with Carbon Spin wheels

I had this wheels since 1998 and never had a problem, as of last night I noticed my rear tire rubbed on the left side of my frame intermittently. I checked for play and only has play to the left side, looks like just got started, there are no grinding noises yet, I think something got loose. Has anybody service this hubs? Any tips will be appreciated, I cannot find anything about this wheels online, I hope I don't need to replace any parts because I cannot find anything for this wheels. Are these hubs like any other hubs? Will I need special tools? Cannot find torque specifications, will that be a problem? Will I be able to put some treadlock on the left nut if that's loose? Should I regrease it? What grease should I use? Thanks in advance 🙁

Just sold a set of these not too long ago. Use two box wrenches to tighten each side thus putting the hub back together. They have sealed bearings so unless you feel grinding when spinning the wheel, don't bother taking the wheel further apart.

Sweet! Thank you... I need to get me a 2nd set of those... Can't believe the actual wheel is stronger than the hub...lol. I seen a few set of those used on EBay for the original retail price $600 🙁. If I come a cross a new set for the original price I would get it! Thanks for the help logger

Ok it doesn't use conventional wrenches, and looks like it only gets disassembled on the left side then the right side slides out. I'm taking it to High Gear Cycle in Milburn... We will see what's up with the hub.

ok. I remember using two wrenches and turning one and holding the other to tighten. Don't remember it being a big deal.

One wrench to hold the housing looks like it has to be a really skinny 19mm and then to the hollow bolt where the quick release shaft goes in is an Hex 5mm key... I just don't have the really skinny wrench.

Probably a cone wrench, a local LBS will have one.

Went to the shop, amazingly the hub has no problemo... It ended up being my quick release... The shaft may be too stretched or the treads worn out... I picked up a $4 dollar quick release because they didn't have any other ones, but I will order a couple of KORE quick releases. 🙂

Just got back home from a 12 mile ride, new quick release made a huge difference. Abuses the bike a little bit with some jumps and some high speed cornering, and no problem at all. I felt a more rigid ride... No play on the wheel at all.. It is Rock solid! :getsome:
Now the bike is ready for Chimney Rock 😀

Nice! The wheels are timeless IMO.

I still want to service the bearings in the hubs because they never been service, and I can't risk for them to fail one day. The guy at the shop didn't feel like making extra money, he really didn't want to service my rear hub, so that is one bad review I am giving to High Gear Cyclery in Milburn.

If you really want to pimp those puppies out, check out this link.

Believe it or not, spin did come out with a disc version for a short time before going under. I once saw a N.O.S. set go for $1200 on ebay.:hmmm: GL

They look sweet but I think they add a lot of weight to the wheels. When I pick up my front wheel right now, it feels like the weight of the tube and the tire and the rear wheel feels like the speed cassette and the tire. That's the main reason I got the wheels on the first place. I can haven't had a problem with my regular brakes at all. Don't get me wrong I wish I could have disc brakes but I can deal without them right now, my bike is not too heavy. Now when I get an FR or a DH bike it better have full disc brakes.
