High Point State Park Conditions

conditions are good, typical spring conditions. its mostly rocky carriage paths. The Mashipicon trail has some errosion as always. not much use otherwise.

Well who wants to ride up rt 23 from Montague and then descend the trails?

Hit me up, I'm interested. I've seen on Strava there are some pretty cool looking trails between Iris and 23. I xc ski up there in the winter sometimes, but I've only ridden there once. I rode the Monument trail and some of the ski trails and I'm not sure what else. I would also like to hit the Port Jervis trails, since I've never been. This stuff is just too far away.

Definitely not a great place to ride for the trails. There are a few decent ones, but that's it. If it is far for you, I'd probably just skip HP and go to PJ.

Highpoint south of 23 is rideable at this time with the exception of a few trails.

Im hopping to get out wed and ride to see what fell. I think storm missed the bulk of the trails. Ill start cutting whats down. Maintenance will be hitting main trails soon.
Parker appears to be worst. Whatever trails are in between ridge rd and sawmill rd as well.

I will say that an m18 hatchet would clear the majority of trail debris.

Also biggest concern are the widow makers I’d say. Good idea to not be in these woods any windy days in the near future.

Also, do you have an ebike?

I figured Parker would be bad. The line looked to be from Life trail to just passed Mashipacong trail at Sawmill and north of that line. Hope the stuff between 23 and Lake Rutherford are OK.
I dont have an Ebike

Let me know if yiu’d want help clearing. I have a couple hand saws. Depends on day.

I officially closed the High Point bike trails in High Point. After riding them today I found the area to be destroyed. Too many reroute and trees to cut. With the lack of use they get, its not worth keeping them open. Marked trails will be easier to get open since maintenance can get those. End of an era for the bike trails.

I hit the bike trails today. The amount of work that it going to take isnt worth it especially with the lack of use. Maintenance will get most of the marked trails.

Oh no, did you take Parker and the few in between Park Ridge and Sawmill?
