My Heckler came with 165 cranks (and I run 165 cranks on my enduro bike as well). I'm now looking at 155mm options. I really want "ebWings" to match the cranks on my Megatower and Chameleon, but Cane Creek doesn't offer a Shimano version, so I'm looking at the 5Dev cranks.

After Thanksgiving, I'll make my seasonal switch to flat pedals... it'll be interesting to see how the ebike feels after only riding them with clipless.
My 165mm crank arms.

@jdog - any thoughts on becoming a dealer?

I think that like in all consumer products, competition creates better products for everyone. These guys are obviously very good at making very powerful and compact motors. I’m sure that the big bike brands are testing these drive units as we speak. Just like everything in electronics, what we are using now is not the best available. We are using the best scalable product that can hold up to the demanding use on a modern trail bike.

Batteries and drive units will only get better as time goes on. I don’t think we are even close to a plateau in ebike tech.

Part of my consideration with becoming a dealer is the people involved. I don’t have a local contact, that doesn’t mean I can’t make a connection.

600w battery doe on a full power is questionable IMO.
And if you read FAQ. They say if you plan on using the 250 watt range extender you must attach it before the ride as it will not work if the main battery is depleted. That's crazy in my opinion.

I just watched Robrides on YouTube.
He got 25 miles 3k climbing in 3 hrs of ride time which is normal imo. 21 kilos is very reasonable but that's a $10k price tag. I would love to ride the gen 5 vs gen 4 motor back to back to see where improvements are.

All the CC frames are axis only… that kinda sucks. All of the axis cassettes have one or more alloy cogs… that’s just dumb, alloy cogs and e bikes are a terrible mix.

This is also because shimano is all in on Wireless for 2025. The writing is on the wall here.

😱 four bar over VPP
Also see they went Bosch.
This is sandwiched between heckler and the bullet. 600w battery doe on a full power is questionable IMO.
They assume that you are buying the 250wh range extender too. Short rides 600 // Long rides 850.

Im not so sure on this. I can tell you that 600 isn't enough for my use by itself.

I'll hold judgement until I see what they come out with, but I don't want to lose high-end cable systems at reasonable prices that Shimano currently offers. I'm non-ebike, wireless would be likely more appealing on an e-bike.

from what I’ve seen, the only energy put into wired, shifting systems lately has been CUES from Shimano, FSA and Yet to be released transmission cable actuated der. Outside of that, cable shifting seems to be a zero priority for bicycle part manufacturers.

Comparison, they claim quieter, don't care. Lighter, don't care. But the intriguing part is better efficiency in battery usage for range.
Other then those it probably wouldn't move me to jump at a new bike just yet.

Some claim that the software improvement can be felt to be more natural, I already think gen4 nailed this and is more personal thing.

The Vala looks interesting, but I don't see anything that makes me regret buying a Heckler. For one, I'm not sold on mullets for trail riding. For my riding style, I prefer a full 29er.
