Maybe it's for the better that I didn't get to follow her on my bike. It may have been too depressing to see how weak I am.

Do you not follow Lael regularly? When she set the Trans-Am record she would've ridden 3x this distance already, she's lollygagging out there 🤣

It was super fun during the first 3 hours where it was just the 3 of us telling her about all of the events we've done together that she didn't remember. I was like, I texted you this morning to let you know where I was gonna meet you and you responded 🤣

for the 10-15 miles I did get to ride with her, and the additional group of random riders we picked up along the way, I would tell you that while I personally didnt think she was "hammering" this is all relative to the level of fitness.
While I spent most of the time before we connected with her thinking how bad I am gonna get dropped on the climbs, what I didn't anticipate is how hard and fast she goes on the descents! The climbs we did were fine, but I Had to back off and make sure I didnt ride over my head on the steep descents we did and I consider myself a relatively experienced road rider after 12+ years.
The other thing, and for obvious reasons, is she is not looking back at all shes just riding her pace whatever the terrain dictates.

Well she’s back at it. Don’t know if she’s coming to NJ this time but now she plans to set the all time speed record. To do that she has to ride 240 miles A DAY!!

She’s posting the route again so we can go out and wave. Last year she came within a block of the shop. I think she’s cutting out elevation to save time so the route will be different.

Route is posted. She’s going straight north from Chicago into Canadia and riding east above the border. Gonna keep an eye on her tracker and maybe take a few days off to join her. She’s not allowed to draft though, not like that’s a problem 😂😳😢
