The park might not be for you but trail crews work hard for those that do enjoy itI was at the park over the weekend with my XC bike. It’s very flat and sandy. Other than that one section near the tennis courts, it has little in the way of climbs or descents.
Lots of itchy balls on the ground which could make for some squirrely handling. I don’t know if I’ll bring my bike with me the next time I’m here. I will say the views of the lake are scenic and the rowing teams add something unique to the park.
Interesting. I don't think I've ever heard someone call Mercer "sandy" before. Flat, rooty, thorny, yes but not sandy, lol. It is flat so you are always pedalling! And there are only two spots with some elevation change: near the tennis center and on the backside of the damn by the spillway. I usually get about 400-500 feet of elevation gain when I do the whole park. And the spiky balls seem particularly numerous this year for sure. We're working on it. Bring your rake next time. 😁I was at the park over the weekend with my XC bike. It’s very flat and sandy. I would call Mercer sandy, it is why it is so good in the shoulder seasons! Thanks for the work as always!Interesting. I don't think I've ever heard someone call Mercer "sandy" before. There is one also where the farm house is close to the service road to the handicap parking. It's not far from a cut down tree from before.I came across 4 downed trees at Mercer yesterday:
There's one on Red bn the tennis center and East Picnic (1). There's another on Mud bog not far from the double bridge (2). There's an oak on upper blue near the corner of the corn field (3). And there's one on yellow right next to Hughes Drive (4). There is also a pedal grabber in the middle of the Grail and another one on orange right below the dam. We will address them shortly.
Otherwise, the trails are in decent shape, although getting a little bushy here and there.
That tree has been taken care of. Thanks! 🤘There is one also where the farm house is close to the service road to the handicap parking. It's not far from a cut down tree from before.
