Most fun gravel drivetrain... 643% gear range

I recently updated my Soma Double Cross Disc looking for a 2x solution with wide gearing. Just for the record this works....

Microshift bar ends 2x11 shifters... wait, there's a reason.
GRX 600 46/30 crankset
GRX toggle FD ... yes, only because it works with the GRX chainline....
Box Two 11-46 11 speed cassette, 11 speed chain
Box Two RD... a brick shithouse
The result, 643% gear range. Evil laugh.

I was gonna buy the Microshift brifters that are Shimano mtn compatible, but the Box rear derailleur seems to require an act of Congress to shift... hence the barcons.

A couple of years ago I would laughed at this, but the last couple events I did, 1x1 wasn’t enough. Got me thinking of trying a 40t up front and a 11-46 in the back…

I totally see wanting close to that much, 30/46 may be a little too much unless it’s loaded up with lots of gear

Alright, I have conceded this won't work longterm for some obvious and not so obvious reasons. Off came the Box stuff and on went...

GRX 810 RD
Ultegra 11speed 11-34 cassette
Fresh Ultegra chain
Microshift Centos 11 brifters (gotta fit the budget)

This all works much better...

I hoped to use a 40 tooth E.Thirteen cog and Roadlink DM but the big cog is too wide for an HG 10speed freehub body... when I can buy a wheel with an 11 speed FH body I'll try it. Yes it's my commuter too...
