Navigating Chimney

I am wondering how easy it is to navigate Chimney Rock?, I have ridden there a few times but it has always been with a group so I don't know the trails, seemed like there were many (ok a few) road crossings, is it confusing or is it on the easier side?.
I was hoping to venture out there tomorrow morning.

I don't think it's difficult.

Parking - Ballfield (Chimney Rock Rd), Gilbride, or Newmans. Most would park at the Ballfield as it's the biggest and kinda central. Park at Gilbride if you want to get to Cromwell and Hawk Watch.

Think of it as color sections instead of individual trails:

Blue trails are west of Newmans
Red trails are south of the reservoir
White trails are north of the reservoir
Orange trails are between Chimney Rock Rd and Gilbride
Yellow trails are south of Gilbride and gets you to the Hawk Watch/Chimney Rock
Black goes from Gilbride to Cromwell
Cromwell is east of Vossller (don't go up the down 🙂)

Road crossings - Red/White to Blue = Newmans, Red/White to Orange = Chimney Rock, Black to Cromwell = Vossller & Brookside, Ballfields area/Black to Orange/Yellow is Gilbride.

Yes, there's a bunch of interconnections, but I think it's simpler than Allaire

Hardest trail is train simulator/yelllow south of Gilbride along the east side of the creek. Next is Orange river south of Gilbride along the west side of the creek.

Most fun is going to be Cromwell on the east side.

Here's the map on Trailforks You don't need a subscription and it should work on a browser.

Hope this helps.

Thanks, yeah I have always parked at the Ball fields so at least I know where that is.
I'll have a look at the map to at least have some idea what is going on.

So... It turned out to be an epic mud pit today... hopefully it will be in better shape tomorrow (Sunday), but keep that in mind if you have a long drive to get there.

I parked at the ball fields, rode a few different sections, and pretty much they were all bad. I dont know the park enough to know the names of the trails. I'm guessing it was freeze thaw, and also the bit of snow/rain that came late Friday night. I guess if you live close it would be worth checking out, but if you gotta drive a bit, not sure how much better tomorrow will be, unless you can get there at 7am.
