Hey Everyone,
Wanted to introduce myself to this site. I met a guy at Ramapo mountains and told me about mtbnj and i love this site! who needs mtbr.com?
Anyway I've been riding for about 12 years off and on. I have a 1.5 yr old son, so my riding time is precious nowadays. I'm riding a specialized FSR and just getting into the Ramapo Ringwood area. I will be moving to oakland in a month so I'm pumped that this will be my backyard. Definitely looking forward to maybe doing a ride there soon too.

Brad

Welcome! I'm in Wanaque and know the area wll if you ever want a tour of the area behind us ( me to the east and you to the west )

that would be great! I would love to check out Ringwood. I tried it one time with a buddy of mine but we got lost on fire roads the enter time.

sweet with the new move to some great network of trails, that's a big plus. Welcome...

Hey Brad, welcome to the site. I'm the guy you met at Ramapo. I can be at the trailhead by 3:30pm pretty much any weekday. Let me know when you can sneak away for a few hours, and I'll show you the trail from Ramapo to Ringwood and back.

I'll probably be there if it doesn't rain. Don't wait for me if I'm not there by 3:30pm though.

Rode from top sky to lookout and back on cannonball today- hot as hell!! ran into a huge rattlesnake on yellow and then a black snake on cannonball after the rocky technical stream crosiing section- be careful out there- the snakes are out in this heat

Damn! That's crazy about the rattler... We went on cannonball into ringwood and back. I think I dropped a couple pounds from the amount of sweat. Didnt see any snakes...

Great ride though overall... Thanks again Jim!

No problem. It was definitely too hot and humid, but it was a good ride. You did great for your first time on that trail. Maybe we'll get to see some rattlers next time.

Here's the ride we did:

After I dropped you at the car, I went and did a loop around Ramapo, but the out and back toward Ringwood was us.

Here's the ride I did last week that went all the way into Ringwood:

Shortly after where we turned around yesterday, you would have made a left off of yellow onto the red trail. The route I did here was to follow red down into Ringwood, then took the black bear trail by the school out to the road. Then ice pond road up to cat's nest/renegade back to red, then up to yellow, yellow/cannonball, back to top of skyline.

Next time we should park at the school and head toward Ramapo so you can see the awesomeness of the new red trail. Anyone know if it's cool to park at the school on a weekday afternoon?
