Newbie GPS Question

Hi,

I thought I'd but this in the First Timer as it's a VERY basic GPS question.

I see that the trail forums have GPS paths available to download and then (I guess) the gps guides you through the woods?

Can anyone recommend a cheap GPS unit that will allow me to do this. I don't have $400 for a Garmin Edge.

Are there maybe modesl from 2-3 years ago that you could recommend that I look for off eBay?

I don't need fancy color screens or heart rate monitors.

Thanks for any advice!

Eric

Garmin Edge 305 isn't that much. You can also look into the bigger, bulkier eTrex Legend types.

You can get refurbished edge 305's with the HRM and Cadence sensor for around 2 bills on amazon.

Thanks, for a difference of $90 or so it looks like the Edge 305 might be the right way to go.

Am I correct that I could somehow download a suggested trail from say the Deer Park forum and then go there and the GPS would guide me through the route?

Take a trail map and remove the map and just leave the drawn trail. Thats the best I can describe it. It then shows your position in relation the the trail.
