Not 1, not 2, but THREE new XC Bikes released

I forgot about the Pivot. That’s definitely a bike to consider. It’s impressive how they keep the weight down and still offer a DW suspension.

Another one is the Prototype Trek that they aren’t even planning on releasing. I guess they’re just skipping right to 32. I’m not sure that’s the move, but it seems like what they are doing.

As a sucker for every bike trend except fat bikes (I did 29+), the long/low/slack thing went too far. Optimized for 5-10% of a typical ride and/or lift served. I have the now "old" Epic Evo 8 and it's the most versatile bike I've owned. More capable on many tamer DHs than my enduro-ish bike. Tires that are fast enough and hold up to trail use. I'd be curious to try one of these to see if they've kept the versatility or if they've gone more towards pure XC race with the strut style shock.

Then complain that sales have dropped

The only thing that does make sense, the margins will go up. It costs so much to manufacture, ship, assemble, staff to sell, that it costs more than not selling any at all. Kids bikes in particular are a massive loss.
