Being new to the sport and being a new rider and learning to ride right. I have been going to Allaire on Tuesdays, people start meeting up around 5:30-6ish. That is a complete beginners ride. You will get to meet a lot of down to earth people who love the sport. Allaire info http://www.mtbnj.com/directory.php?f=show&id=32 .

One thing I did and this is me, is join Jorba.
If you go Tuesday for beginners ride, you will meet Frank president of Jorba.
Nice guy, he will answer all your question about Jorba and Jorba Fest coming up.

If you have a facebook account here is that link as well.

There is also a nice event coming up called Jorba fest this I would recommend going, this will be my first time there, and from what I am told, it loads of fun. Link http://www2.jorba.org/index.php?title=Fest
Hope this gives you some help, plus there is tons of info on this forum.

See ya on the trails. 😀

Welcome!!

Hey Jumpa!

I'm in Hoboken and tend to do the same.... I drive out of town to get where the riding is at.

I would also recommend the Tuesday night beginners ride at Allaire. It's not a bad drive and it's a good group, easy pace and the park is great for beginners. There's only a couple small elevation changes and only like one rock in the whole park that somehow I always seem to find 🙂

Enjoy!!

Hey guys! i am from jersey city as well and looking for riding buddies. also a newbie in mtb riding so i am not much of a thrill seeker...yet!

i have gone to washington park reserves in bridgewater and stillwell in NY. both are good for beginners.

let me know if you plan on riding, i'd like to come.

Welcome to the nut house!.....
Like Ronc mentioned Allaire is were i tend to ride, its a great park, love the trails (Not just becasue i help build them) but just a fun park overall. Please feel free to drop me an email anytime if you want to ride thier.

Peace,

Mike

welcome! like everyone says, Allaire! Its a great park for learning, and if you can make it to the Tuesday night rides you'll meet some cool people and get a good tour. Clayton is also lots of fun!

Welcome!!!!

Like everyone said Allaire is an awesome park... and from what I hear Tuesday nights are pretty cool (I'm yet to go F wk!!!)

But if you want to ride in the area you should try Ringwood state park, Ramapo Valley, or Jungle habitat. out of all of them I say Jungle Habitat is the easiest for beginner along w. Ramapo (mostly down hill) ...

If you feel like riding over the weekend let me know just soot me a PM... I usually try to ride Sundays.

once again have fun and if you're not going over the handle bars you're not trying hard enough :getsome:

I live in Weehawken. There seems to be growing number of riders around hoboken, but i have yet to meet one in person.
