REI Intro Class any good?

Hi, so I expect to get my bike next week a Giant Anthem X. Given this will be the first time in many many years I've been back mountain biking I thought this class might be a good way to ease back into it. Has anyone been to the REI class? And was it helpful? If nothing else I hope it will remind me of proper riding techniques and form.

I also plan on doing one of Tuesday beginner rides, but have to find a good day to take off from work early since I work in Jersey city now.

I can only speak for what I overheard several years ago at Wharton, while an REI intro to road bike class was preparing to roll out. My thoughts are if you know how to clip in, clip out, and know how to shift, you already know everything they are going to teach you.
I qualify this by saying that the Conshi & Marlton REI rep got me involved at developing the MTB trails at Wharton.

Though the suceeding REI reps were not interested in sNJ mountain biking (or maybe simply just not interested in mtb'ing at Wharton). And I further qualify by saying that one the REI road bike teachers, when one of the students that noticed us JORBA folk prepping for TM, was asked about MTBing at Wharton, replied... its no good, its too sandy. 😀 Save your time and money and join a beginner group ride somewhere in Jersey.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll take the advice and plan a early day off to make the Tuesday beginner ride soon.
